"Dead Ere His Prime": Edward King and Milton's Confrontation with Mortality
Welcome to the Wiki for my Senior English Project!
In his writing, John Milton has taken us on a journey literally to Hell and back.
My project tries to understand why he would go there in the first place.
Thus sang the uncouth Swain to th'Oakes and rills,
While the still morn went out with Sandals gray,
He touch'd the tender stops of various Quills,
With eager thought warbling his Dorick lay:
And now the Sun had stretch'd out all the hills,
And now was dropt into the Western bay;
At last he rose, and twitch'd his Mantle blue:
Tomorrow to fresh Woods, and Pastures new.
